Description

The Milesight VS125 is a 3D stereo vision people counter for store entrances, shopping malls, offices, airports and schools. Two image sensors and on-device AI count people in and out, tell adults and children apart, recognise staff and groups, and keep counting in the dark with built-in infrared. Only counts and statistics leave the sensor. Choose the standard lens for 2.2 to 6 m mounting height or the Low&Wide lens (listed here as Ultrawide) for low ceilings from 1.9 m, with PoE or 4G.

Key features

  • 3D stereo vision with AI: Milesight states up to 99.8% people counting accuracy. 2 × 4 MP sensors (standard) or 2 × 5 MP (Low&Wide), counting at 0 lux with infrared on.
  • Two lenses: standard 2.2–6 m (7.2–19.7 ft), 101° × 70° field of view; Low&Wide 1.9–3.5 m (6.2–11.5 ft), 130° × 117°, which Milesight states covers up to 40 m² at 3.5 m.
  • Counting rules: up to 4 bi-directional counting lines, 4 regions with dwell time, U-turn filtering, group counting, heat map.
  • Staff, children and gender: staff detection with the VA21 lanyard or VA04 badge, children/adult split and gender recognition at 2.2–4 m (Low&Wide: 1.9–3.3 m).
  • Wide entrances: multi-device stitching of up to 16 sensors.
  • Open integration: MQTT(S) and HTTP(S) push with API; BACnet/IP on the PoE versions for building management systems.
  • Data safety: stores up to one million records on the device with CSV export, and retransmits data after a network outage.

Which VS125 do I need?

About the SKUs: SKUs starting with NF are Vemco's codes for Milesight VS-series sensors delivered with Vemco firmware. NF125 is the Milesight VS125. To match a SKU to the Milesight datasheet, read the Milesight ordering code in the table. The colour suffix is Vemco's; both colours are the same sensor.

4G outside Europe: the standard 4G version (VS125-L0BEU) uses EMEA/ANZ bands. In North and South America choose the PoE version, if needed with a UR32L or UR35 4G router in the L04AF (North America) or L04AU (Latin America) version, or ask us about the Low&Wide 4G version and carrier approval. All variants are stocked here; the VS125 has no LoRaWAN version.

Coverage by mounting height

Detection area per sensor (length × width), from the Milesight VS125 and VS125-LW datasheets. A dash means the height is outside the range of that lens.

Sensor and software: what you get

On the sensor: in/out counting, regions, staff and children detection, local storage and data push over MQTT, HTTP or BACnet/IP. In software: dashboards, multi-site comparison, conversion with POS data and reports. Vemco delivers the VS125 with Vemco firmware, ready for VemCount, which comes with a 60-day free trial (see software plans). The hardware price does not include a software licence.

Installation and accessories

Mount the VS125 centred over the entrance, pointing straight down. For gender and children/adult split stay between 2.2 and 4 m. Use the VC01 flush mount cover in suspended ceilings, the VB02 adjustable bracket for angled mounting, and the VA21 staff lanyard or VA04 staff badge for staff exclusion. The most common mistakes are the standard lens on a low, wide entrance, mounting off-centre, and signs or displays in the field of view. After mounting, Vemco sets the counting lines and validates the counts with the remote setup and validation service.

Frequently asked questions

How much does the Milesight VS125 people counter cost?
The unit price is shown above, excluding VAT. For several sensors or sites we quote hardware, installation and software together. Partners see their own price after signing in.

Standard or Ultrawide (Low&Wide) VS125?
Standard for mounting heights of 2.2–6 m. Low&Wide for low ceilings of 1.9–3.5 m, where it covers a much larger floor area per sensor.

Can I use the VS125 4G version in the USA?
The standard 4G version (VS125-L0BEU) is built for EMEA and Australia/New Zealand bands. In the Americas use the PoE version with a regional 4G router, or contact us about the Low&Wide 4G version.

Does the VS125 support BACnet?
Yes. The PoE versions support BACnet/IP as well as MQTT(S) and HTTP(S).

Can the VS125 be installed outdoors?
No, it is an indoor sensor (IP40). For outdoor entrances choose the VS125 Outdoor (IP67).

Is the VS125 GDPR friendly?
Images are processed on the sensor and only counts and statistics are sent. Milesight publishes a GDPR guideline for the VS125; your own privacy assessment should still cover the installation.
