The Milesight VS125 is a 3D stereo vision people counter for store entrances, malls, offices, airports and schools. Dual 4 MP stereo sensors and on-device AI count people in and out with up to 99.8% accuracy, separate adults, children, groups and staff, and keep working in darkness with built-in infrared. Choose PoE or 4G, and the standard lens (2 to 6 m) or ultrawide lens (1.9 to 3.5 m, 40 m² coverage) to match the entrance.

Key features

  • Dual 4 MP stereo sensors with up to 99.8% counting accuracy.
  • AI analytics: age groups, gender, staff versus visitor and group counting.
  • Anonymous detection on the sensor, only counts and statistics leave the device.
  • Built-in infrared for reliable counting in low light and total darkness.
  • Connectivity: PoE (DC or 802.3af) or 4G cellular; standard and ultrawide lens.
  • Mounting heights from 2 to 6 m (standard) or 1.9 to 3.5 m with 40 m² coverage (ultrawide).
  • Bi-directional counting with up to 4 detection lines, U-turn filtering, regional counting and dwell time in up to 4 areas.
  • Children and adult differentiation and gender recognition at 2.2 to 4 m installation height.
  • Heatmap generation and multi-device stitching of up to 16 devices; local storage of 1,000,000 records with CSV export.

Works with

Vemcount for footfall, conversion and occupancy, and VemSpace for space utilisation. Accessories: VC01 flush mount cover, VB02 tilt bracket, VA21 staff lanyard, VA04 staff badge. Outdoors: the VS125 Outdoor (IP67).

Replacing an existing counter?

The VS125 replaces older 3D counters such as Irisys Vector, Brickstream and first-generation Hikvision units in the same mounting position. Vemco handles the migration of your historical data. Ask about a replacement project.

How it compares

Technology In this shop Privacy Mounting height Light conditions Best for
3D stereo vision Milesight VS125, Xovis PC2SE, Xovis PF-L Images processed on the sensor, only counts are sent About 2 to 6 m, higher with the Xovis PC3SE Needs some light; the VS125 adds infrared Busy and wide entrances, groups, children and demographics

Thermal Older installed counters Heat image, no identifiable images Low to medium ceilings Independent of light, affected by warm air and sunlight Legacy sites being replaced
Dual PIR Milesight VS350 No images Around 3 m, ceiling or wall Independent of light Fitting rooms, restrooms, narrow passages
2D AI camera TD Intelligence TD1001, VC-2D Images processed on the device About 2.3 to 5 m Needs normal indoor light Low traffic sites, age and gender analytics

Planning the installation

Mount the VS125 centred over the entrance and pointing straight down, between 2 and 6 m for the standard lens or 1.9 and 3.5 m for the ultrawide. If you need gender or adult and child split, stay between 2.2 and 4 m. The mistakes we see most often are choosing the standard lens for a low, wide entrance (the ultrawide covers more floor at low height), mounting off-centre, and leaving signs or displays in the field of view. For entrances wider than one sensor covers, plan several units with multi-device stitching. For PoE keep the cable run under 100 m; for 4G check the signal at ceiling height. After mounting, Vemco sets the counting lines and validates the data with the remote calibration and validation service.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Milesight VS125 GDPR friendly?
The VS125 processes the stereo images on the sensor and only sends counts and statistics, so no images of visitors leave the device. Your own privacy assessment should still cover the installation.

Standard or ultrawide lens?
Standard for mounting heights of 2 to 6 m. Ultrawide for low ceilings of 1.9 to 3.5 m where you need up to 40 m² of coverage from one sensor.

How is the VS125 different from the VS135?
The VS125 uses 3D stereo vision and adds gender, age group and group counting. The VS135 uses Time-of-Flight, captures no images at all and is IP65 for semi-outdoor entrances.

Can several VS125 sensors cover one wide entrance?
Yes. Up to 16 devices can be stitched so a wide entrance or mall corridor is counted as one line without double counting.

How do I exclude staff?
Staff wear the VA21 lanyard or VA04 badge and are removed from the visitor count automatically.

Do I need a software licence?
Yes. Counts are shown in Vemcount, which is licensed on the Vemco platform with a 60-day free trial.

Ideal applications: retail stores, offices and workplaces, airports and transit hubs, educational institutions, public spaces.
