Description

The Milesight VS341 is a wireless desk and seat occupancy sensor for offices, hot-desking areas, libraries, co-working spaces and meeting tables. Mounted under the desk, it combines PIR motion detection with a thermopile heat sensor, so a desk shows as occupied when a person is really there, also when they sit still. Status is sent over LoRaWAN for desk booking and utilisation reports.

Key features

  • PIR + thermopile: Milesight states up to 98% recognition rate (best at +10 to +30 °C).
  • Fits different desks: 107° × 107° PIR detection within 1 m; PIR covers narrow the area for single desks, face-to-face desks, bar tables or round tables.
  • Fast status: Milesight states occupied in about 13 s and not occupied after about 60 s.
  • Long battery life: one replaceable 4000 mAh ER18505 battery; Milesight states over 10 years at SF7 (daily reporting, 100 triggers per day, lab figure).
  • Easy installation: 3M tape or screws, NFC configuration, Milesight D2D support.

Which frequency version do I need?

SKUs match the Milesight model (VS341) plus the LoRaWAN hardware band.

Sensor and software: what you get

On the sensor: occupied/vacant status per desk or seat over LoRaWAN. In software: desk utilisation, peak times, hot-desking and booking insights. Use the VS341 with VemSpace, which comes with a 60-day free trial (see software plans). The hardware price does not include a software licence.

Installation and accessories

Mount the sensor under the desk, 0–40 cm from the edge where the user sits, and choose the PIR cover that matches the desk type. The VS341 needs a LoRaWAN gateway on the same frequency plan, such as the UG65. For whole-room counting add the VS121; for air quality the AM307.

Frequently asked questions

How does the Milesight VS341 detect desk occupancy?
PIR detects motion and the thermopile detects body heat, so the desk stays occupied when someone sits still and is not marked occupied by a bag on the chair.

How long does the VS341 battery last?
Milesight states over 10 years at SF7 and about 5 years at SF10 (daily reporting, 100 triggers per day, lab figures).

What is the difference between the VS340 and VS341?
The VS341 adds the thermopile sensor; Milesight states up to 98% recognition for the VS341 versus up to 95% for the PIR-only VS340.

Which LoRaWAN frequency do I need?
868M for Europe, the Middle East, Africa, India and Russia; 915M for the Americas, Australia, Korea and most of Asia-Pacific; 470M for China.
